A traveler who was contagious with measles visited several public places in Boston between June 7 and June 8, raising concerns among health officials. The Boston Public Health Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health have confirmed that the individual frequented a hotel, a renowned museum, and Logan Airport during this time frame.
Health authorities are warning the public that individuals who were present at the following locations during specific times may have been exposed to the measles virus:
Westin Boston Seaport District Hotel (including its restaurants) from 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8. Museum of Fine Arts Boston on Sunday, June 8, between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Logan Airport Terminal C on Sunday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.Health officials are urging all unvaccinated individuals who may have been exposed to contact their healthcare provider promptly. They should also refrain from entering public areas for a period of 21 days to monitor for any symptoms of measles. This precaution is crucial in preventing further spread of the highly contagious virus.
The Boston Public Health Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health are actively working to identify and notify all individuals who may have been in contact with the infected traveler. This includes passengers who were on JetBlue flight 639, which departed from Boston to Miami at 9:12 p.m. on June 8.
