CASS CITY, MI - A prominent Michigan family, known for their appearance on the TLC reality show “Meet the Putmans,” has released a heartfelt statement following the tragic death of three of their family members. The Putman family confirmed via social media on Saturday afternoon that patriarch Bill “Papa” Putman, his wife “Neenee,” and Aunt Megan lost their lives in a devastating car accident.
According to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. on September 26, on Deckerville Road, near Hurds Corner Road in Cass City. Eyewitnesses reported multiple injuries at the scene. A 55-year-old man from Florida was driving a loaded commercial semi-truck with one female passenger when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The semi-truck collided with a Jeep that was carrying eight Cass City residents traveling eastbound on Deckerville Road, resulting in three fatalities at the scene. The remaining five occupants of the Jeep were rushed to various hospitals, with some reported to be in critical condition. Authorities have since arrested the Florida driver, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Putman family expressed their grief and faith in their statement, saying, “They have gone home to be with the Lord.” They requested prayers for their family members still hospitalized: Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia. “We are asking for complete healing and strength for each of them,” the family added, highlighting their profound faith in God during this heartbreaking time.
In their message, the Putmans emphasized their close relationship with God, stating, “Even in this time of heartbreak, we rest in knowing that God is in control.” They shared Bible verses that provide solace and peace amidst their sorrow, reinforcing their belief that their loved ones are not lost forever. “Because of all that sacrifice, we know Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan are not gone forever. They are alive and whole in heaven before Jesus, hearing the words we all long to hear: ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant,’” the statement read.
“Meet the Putmans” premiered on TLC in 2017, showcasing the lives of the 25-member Putman family in a single season. Following the conclusion of the show, the family transitioned to YouTube, where they launched the “Growing Up Putman” channel, continuing to share their experiences with fans.
In their plea for support, the Putmans expressed gratitude for the love and prayers they have received, stating, “Thank you for every prayer, message, and act of love. Your support means more than words can express. Please continue to lift us, that our hearts remain fixed on the truth that Jesus conquered death so we could have eternal life.”
