On Friday afternoon, a gunman entered the Las Vegas Athletic Club, leading to a chaotic scene where multiple people were shot. The incident resulted in one fatality and several injuries, prompting an immediate response from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
According to a news release from the police department, they received multiple reports of a shooting at the gym and rushed to the scene. Upon their arrival, the gunman attempted to evade police by exiting the gym, which led to officers firing at him in an effort to apprehend the suspect. After successfully taking him into custody, police provided medical assistance, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later at a nearby hospital.

On Saturday, the Las Vegas Athletic Club publicly identified the deceased victim as Edgar Quinonez, a dedicated employee of the gym for the past 15 years. In a heartfelt post on X, the gym expressed their sorrow, stating, “Edgar was a beloved part of the LVAC family. We are praying for Edgar’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.”
In light of this devastating event, the Las Vegas Athletic Club has announced a temporary closure as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
