The bound volumes were compiled in 2003 by Ghislaine Maxwell, a former girlfriend and close associate of Epstein. This revelation has sparked increased scrutiny and conversation regarding the relationships Epstein maintained with powerful figures.
Following a report by The Wall Street Journal in July about the book's existence, Donald Trump denied writing a sexually suggestive letter included in the collection and subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against the publication. Democrats on the Oversight Committee shared an image of the purported letter on social media, which features “Donald J. Trump” typed above a signature that appears handwritten. Trump and his staff have claimed that the signature does not match his handwriting. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that they would welcome expert handwriting analysis, calling the Epstein case “a hoax” designed to distract from the Trump administration's achievements.
Maxwell's handwritten introduction to the book reveals her intentions: “The idea behind this book was simply to gather stories and old photographs to jog your memory about places, people, and different events. Some of the letters will definitely achieve their intended goal — some well … you will have to read them to see for yourself.” The content includes a mix of unsettling illustrations and older photographs.
One notable drawing depicts a male figure, presumed to be Epstein, handing out lollipops to a group of young girls, labeled 1983. Another illustration shows an older Epstein receiving a massage from four nearly naked women, with a date marked as 2003. Additionally, a page features Epstein holding a large novelty check for $22,500, accompanied by a note that jokes about selling a “‘fully depreciated’ woman to Donald Trump for $22,500.” This particular page was created by Joel Pashcow, a member of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club.
While the collection prominently features sexual content, it also contains non-sexual elements, including old family photographs and various notes from Epstein’s family members, offering a more comprehensive view of his life.
