Week 4 Fantasy Football Notes

Running Backs

The Browns and Patriots are the only two defenses currently allowing negative yards per carry (YBC), sitting at -0.17 and -0.09, respectively. The Packers rank third with a YBC of 0.07, while the Texans follow with a significantly higher 0.62. Notably, Chase Brown and Ashton Jeanty are the only qualified running backs with negative YBCs.

The Bears have the second-highest YBC at 2.46, just behind the Bills at 2.60, which presents a favorable scenario for Jeanty. Conversely, Brown faces a challenging matchup against the Broncos, who rank fifth-toughest at 0.63 YBC. The Jaguars, Rams, and Seahawks have yet to allow a rushing touchdown to running backs, while the Titans and Ravens have each surrendered a league-high five touchdowns.

In the Washington backfield, no running back has managed to exceed 45.8% of the touches, with Chris Rodriguez leading at 45.8% and Jacory Croskey-Merritt at 37.5%. For this reason, it’s advisable to avoid this backfield whenever possible.

Wide Receivers

The Panthers pass defense has proven surprisingly effective, allowing no more than 55 receiving yards to any wideout and just one touchdown (scored by Michael Wilson). Their four interceptions rank T-3 in the league, and their expected points added (EPA) against wide receivers is the toughest at 18.30. This spells trouble for players like Kayshon Boutte.

Similarly, the Vikings have restricted wide receivers to a maximum of 68 yards in a game, with only one touchdown allowed. This creates a challenging matchup for quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and receivers like DK Metcalf. Metcalf's current 6.29 Air Yards per Target (AirYD/TGT) is concerning, especially against a Vikings defense that allows a low 4.2 YAC/Rec.

Despite limiting the Eagles passing attack in Week 1, the Cowboys have given up the most receiving yards (661) and are tied for the most touchdowns allowed (six). This creates an opportunity for players like Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden to shine.

Quarterbacks

Jaxson Dart exhibits many similarities to rookie Drake Maye, with the added advantage of superior receiving weapons. Maye averaged 16.1 points during Weeks 6-16 last season, which would currently place Dart in the QB16 range. Dart possesses top-10 upside, albeit with a QB20 or lower floor.

Trevor Lawrence is facing a tough season, having been pressured the least (18.3%) while also ranking poorly in QB Rating under pressure. This is compounded by his low completion percentage (60.4) with no pressure. If Jayden Daniels doesn't return, Marcus Mariota would step in as QB10.

Tight Ends

With Mark Andrews showing impressive form, the Lions and Panthers remain vulnerable against tight ends, offering an opportunity for both David Njoku and Hunter Henry to excel. If Chris Godwin is sidelined, keep an eye on Cade Otton as a potential streaming option, although the Eagles have been strong against tight ends.

Buy Low, Sell High

Buys

Zach Charbonnet, SEA – He could have top-15 upside if Kenneth Walker gets injured.RJ Harvey, DEN – Likely to see more touches with Tyler Badie out.Calvin Ridley, TEN – A potential stash for little cost.Tee Higgins, CIN – A buy-low opportunity due to panic among managers.Terry McLaurin, WAS – A nice discount for a WR3 if you have depth.CeeDee Lamb, DAL – An obvious buy if you can wait for his recovery.

Sells

Kenneth Walker, SEA – If someone offers RB1 value, consider selling.J.K. Dobbins, DEN – Similar situation as Walker; sell if the price is right.George Pickens, DAL – If he’s not close to WR1 value, consider trading.Quentin Johnston and Keenan Allen, LAC – Sell if you can get top-15 value.
