DFS Must Starts for Week 8: Get Your Lineups Ready!

After a sluggish couple of weeks, we are optimistic about getting back on track with our DFS Must Starts for Week 8. Last week's selections included several productive players, but the pricing restrictions made it tricky to assemble the ideal combinations for a successful week. Despite DraftKings pricing tightening up, there is ample value available this week, which allows for the construction of robust lineups. This is where DFS shines compared to traditional fantasy football—each week presents a fresh opportunity. Let’s dive into this week’s top plays!

Quarterback DFS Must Starts

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles ($6,600, 12.7 percent rostered) has finally broken free from his passing slump, achieving his first 300-yard passing game since Week 3 of the previous season. In the Eagles’ recent road victory against Minnesota, he threw for an impressive 326 yards and three touchdowns. This week, Hurts is up against a New York Giants defense that has allowed an average of 21.7 DraftKings points to quarterbacks this season. Additionally, there’s a revenge factor at play, as the Giants previously upset the Eagles in NYC just two weeks ago.

Chalky Play: Bo Nix, Denver ($6,000, 14.4 percent rostered) offers a solid option as well.

Value Play: Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta ($4,900, 4.8 percent rostered) can also be a great addition to your lineup.

Running Back DFS Must Starts

Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons ($8,800, 22.9 percent rostered) stands out as the best value among the top three running backs in DFS this week, especially when compared to Jonathan Taylor of Indianapolis ($9,500) and Christian McCaffrey of San Francisco ($9,000). It’s worth noting that I will likely include all three in one or two lineups since they are all excellent plays for the Main Slate. Robinson might also have the Falcons’ backfield to himself this week, as Tyler Allgeier ($4,800) may be sidelined due to a hip/knee injury. Moreover, Robinson faces a Miami run defense that has been historically poor, allowing the most rushing yards in the NFL with a staggering total of 898 yards and an average of 159.3 yards per game.

Chalky Play: Rachaad White, Tampa Bay ($6,400, 23.6 percent rostered) is another popular choice.

Value Play: Woody Marks, Houston ($5,100, 5.9 percent rostered) presents an intriguing option.

Wide Receiver DFS Must Starts

Devonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles ($5,900, 17.6 percent rostered) makes perfect sense as a complementary option alongside Hurts. With A.J. Brown out due to a hamstring injury, Smith steps into the WR1 role against a Giants pass defense allowing 266.0 passing yards per game on the road. Smith is coming off a career-high 183 receiving yards against Minnesota, recording nine catches on 11 targets along with a touchdown.

Chalky Play: Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati ($8,100, 23.5 percent rostered) remains a top-tier choice.

Value Play: Tez Johnson, Tampa Bay ($4,300, 6.5 percent rostered) could be a valuable addition.

Tight End DFS Must Starts

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis ($5,500, 6.2 percent rostered) has emerged as a standout during his rookie season, scoring double-digit DraftKings points in six of the past seven weeks. His price continues to rise on DraftKings, and he’s worth considering for your roster against a Tennessee team that has generally performed well against tight ends. Warren has averaged 6.4 targets per game and has successfully caught 73 percent of those opportunities.

Chalky Play: Dalton Schultz, Houston ($3,300, 13 percent rostered) is another reliable option.

Value Play: Daniel Bellinger, New York Giants ($2,700, 0.9 percent rostered) can be a low-cost addition to your lineup.

Defense/Special Teams (DST) Plays

For this week’s DST considerations, here are a few recommendations:

Indianapolis ($3,800, 5.9 percent rostered) at home against Tennessee Houston ($3,000, 5.7 percent rostered) at home against San Francisco New Orleans ($2,300, 5 percent rostered) at home against Tampa Bay
