San Antonio Spurs secured a convincing win against the Dallas Mavericks, triumphing 76-69 in the latest matchup of the NBA 2K26 Summer League held at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday. This game showcased the talents of the top draft picks, Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper, who were instrumental in their teams' performances.
The Spurs dominated the first quarter, establishing a strong 21-11 lead. Their early success set the tone for the game, as they maintained the lead for nearly the entirety of the match. Although the Mavericks made a valiant effort in the second quarter, scoring 21 points to the Spurs' 12, it wasn't enough to shift the momentum.
In the third quarter, the Spurs regained control with an impressive 26-17 performance, solidifying their lead and ensuring they would not relinquish it in the second half. The Spurs exhibited remarkable shooting efficiency, hitting 42% of their shots from the field, 35% from beyond the arc, and an impressive 93% from the free-throw line.
On the other hand, the Mavericks struggled offensively, managing only 37% shooting from the field and a mere 23% from three-point range. Their free-throw percentage also left much to be desired at 65%. The Spurs capitalized on their defensive efforts, out-rebounding the Mavericks 37-31 and outscoring them in the paint 38-26.
For the Mavericks, Cooper Flagg was the standout player, netting an impressive 31 points along with four rebounds. His performance, however, was not fully supported by his teammates; Miles Kelly was the only other starter to score in double digits, contributing 11 points, two rebounds, and two steals. The bench player, Maxwell Cleveland, added eight points and four rebounds to the team’s total.
Meanwhile, the Spurs' performance was bolstered by Dylan Harper, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Off the bench, David Jones Garcia led with 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Osayi Osifo added 12 points on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting.
Both teams are set to return to the court on Monday, with the Spurs looking to maintain their undefeated streak against the Utah Jazz, while the Mavericks will seek redemption in their matchup against the Charlotte Hornets.
