As the NFL preseason continues and the college football regular season approaches, enthusiasts are already turning their attention to the future with draft prognostications. In a recent report, ESPN's Field Yates unveiled his first 2026 NFL mock draft, featuring two standout players from the Oregon Ducks expected to make a significant impact in the first round.
Yates projects that outside linebacker Matayo Uiagalelei will be selected by the Green Bay Packers at the No. 19 pick. Uiagalelei, who was the Big Ten's leading returning edge rusher, showcased his skills last season with an impressive record of 38 tackles, including 12 1/2 tackles for loss and 10 1/2 sacks. Yates highlights Uiagalelei's versatility in causing disruption at various positions, making him a valuable asset for the Packers, who tied for eighth in the NFL for sacks last season. With several of Green Bay’s edge defenders entering the final year of their contracts, Uiagalelei could be a timely addition to strengthen their defense.
In addition to Uiagalelei, Yates projects left tackle Isaiah World to be chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs at the No. 30 spot. World, who was widely acknowledged as the top offensive lineman available in the transfer portal this offseason, had an impressive season at Nevada last year, where he allowed no sacks according to some sources. However, Pro Football Focus did credit him with one sack. Regardless, World is considered one of seven offensive tackles expected to be selected in the first round of the upcoming draft.
If Yates' predictions come to fruition, it would mark a historic moment for Oregon football, as it would be only the fifth time the university has produced multiple first-round picks and the first instance of achieving this feat in consecutive seasons.
