For the third consecutive season, the NASCAR All-Star Race Weekend is set to ignite excitement in North Carolina, taking place at the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway. This year’s festivities culminate with the highly anticipated All-Star Race scheduled for Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, broadcasted live on FS1, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
The 2025 edition of the All-Star Race at the 0.625-mile track introduces several significant changes. A total of 23 drivers will compete in the main event, consisting of 20 automatic qualifiers, the top two finishers from the All-Star Open, and the winner of the All-Star Fan Vote—awarded to the highest vote-getter who did not qualify through other means.
The lineup for the main event will be determined through a series of qualifying sessions. Open and All-Star drivers will participate in a combined qualifying session, which includes a unique Pit Crew Challenge during qualifying. Each driver will have a three-lap qualifying effort, with a mandatory pit stop on the second lap serving as the Pit Crew Challenge. The fastest pit stop will be measured by elapsed time from specified timing lines and will determine the winner of the Pit Crew Challenge.
The results from the Pit Crew Challenge will influence the order of pit-stall selection, allowing the winning team to choose their stall first for the race. Additionally, qualifying speeds will dictate the starting lineup for the All-Star Open and the two All-Star heat races. The polesitter will have the coveted first position in both the opening heat race and the All-Star Race itself.
Each heat race will consist of 75 laps, with all laps counting towards the final result. A competition break will occur at or around Lap 30, and there will be one attempt at NASCAR Overtime if necessary. The results of Heat Race 1 will determine the inside row for the All-Star Race, while Heat Race 2 results will determine the outside row.
The All-Star Open will run for 100 laps, also counting all laps, with a competition break around Lap 50. The top two finishers from the All-Star Open, along with the winner of the All-Star Fan Vote, will advance to the All-Star Race, starting at the rear of the field.
The All-Star Race itself will consist of 250 laps, an increase of 50 laps from the previous year. All laps will count, and there will be a competition break at approximately the 100-lap mark. An additional promoter’s caution may come into play before Lap 220, although it cannot be implemented if a natural caution occurs after Lap 200. NASCAR Overtime rules will apply, ensuring an exciting finish to the race.
