The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a notice on Saturday regarding the recall of select products under the “State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick” and “Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick” brands. These items were produced by Hillshire Brands, a Texas-based subsidiary of Tyson Foods.

The contamination issue first came to light following multiple consumer complaints, with five reported injuries prompting a deeper investigation. Hillshire Brands confirmed that a limited number of these products contained “extraneous pieces of wooden stick within the batter.” Consequently, Tyson Foods decided to initiate this recall “out of an abundance of caution,” highlighting their commitment to consumer safety.

Production Dates and Affected Facilities

The recalled corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products were manufactured between March 17 and as recently as last Friday. Tyson Foods, headquartered in Arkansas, has identified the contamination issue as being isolated to a single facility located in Haltom City, Texas.

Where the Products Were Sold

Consumers should be aware that the affected products were not only available through online sales but were also distributed to retailers across the nation. Moreover, these items were supplied to various school districts and facilities operated by the Defense Department, raising concerns about their presence in homes and institutions nationwide.
