Former “Impractical Jokers” star Joe Gatto has publicly addressed a serious sexual assault allegation made against him by a woman via TikTok on Thursday. In his statement, Gatto expressed remorse, stating, “I have used poor judgment and as a result have violated the trust of the people I love most.” He emphasized that anyone who truly knows him understands that he would never commit such an act, affirming his commitment to personal growth. “Working on myself is an ongoing process, and I am now going to take some time away from the public eye to focus my energies where I need to,” he added.
Joe Gatto is widely recognized as a founding member of truTV’s immensely popular prank show, “Impractical Jokers,” where he starred alongside James Murray, Brian Quinn, and Sal Vulcano. Since its debut in 2011, Gatto appeared in 244 episodes and contributed to “Impractical Jokers: The Movie,” until he announced his departure from the series in 2021. In an emotional Instagram post at that time, he shared, “Sorry in advance for the long and more-serious-than-usual note below, I just wanted to let you all know that I will no longer be involved with ‘Impractical Jokers.’”
Gatto continued, reflecting on his decade-long journey with the franchise, stating, “Alongside my friends, I’ve devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn’t be prouder of what has been accomplished.” However, he also revealed personal struggles, noting, “Due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away. Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”
As of now, “Impractical Jokers” is in its 11th season, airing on TBS. In the wake of Gatto’s departure, the show has introduced various comedians, including Eric André, to fill the vacant fourth cast slot. The show continues to entertain fans with its unique blend of humor and friendship, despite the significant change in its lineup.
